Fire Station 24 was initially built in 1978 at 8600 Rosemary St. when South Adams Fire was 100% Volunteer. It housed an Engine Co, Brush Truck, and stored the Antique Engine that is now displayed at Fire Headquarters. Volunteers that lived in the area responded in their personal vehicles to the station to pick up the apparatus to respond to emergencies. The original Station 24 had no dorm rooms for overnight shifts.
Original Fire Station 24 was scrapped and re-built at the same location to in 2015 and staffed 24/7 with full-time firefighters. Today, the station is fully staffed with a 107’ Pierce Ascendant Aerial, Spartan Heavy Rescue, Brush Truck, and Battalion Chief. In 2019, Station 24 responded to over 1,5000 emergencies.
