Emergency Medical Services
The South Adams County Fire Department responds to approximately 12,000 calls each year, the majority of which pertain to medical emergencies. Our department is comprised of a dedicated and highly trained team of paramedics who deliver advanced life support services to our residents. Our objective is to ensure the prompt and professional provision of emergency medical services to all residents and visitors.

In 2026, South Adams County Fire kicked off our inaugural Single-Role Paramedic Academy and welcomed six talented paramedics to the team. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible to our District's citizens and those who visit!

In 2025, the South Adams County Fire Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program experienced significant growth, focusing on workforce development, operational readiness, and innovation in clinical education.EMS) program, with a focus on growth, workforce development, operational readiness, and innovation in clinical education.
Key accomplishments included:
- Workforce Development and Leadership: Hiring an EMS Clinical Educator improved education and professional development, while leadership sessions refined training strategies and advanced the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.
- Clinical Education and Innovation: The launch of virtual reality (VR) training enhanced experiential learning, and a comprehensive training program was established for new EMTs and paramedics.
- Tactical EMS and Interagency Collaboration: The Tactical EMS (TEMS) program expanded its membership and conducted ongoing training to improve coordination with law enforcement.
- Transport Capability and Operational Readiness: The Board approved the EMS transport program, enabling the district to provide ambulance services, with training and additional ambulances acquired.
- Clinical Quality and Patient Outcomes: Updated protocols led to strong performance indicators and several high-acuity cardiac saves, resulting in a Life Saving Award.
These initiatives established a strong foundation for effective EMS transport services while enhancing patient care.
